1 first things first you have to know the size of the table - so measure your table using the guides on the right
2
determine the desired "drop length" (how far down the table the tablecloth falls)
guest tables: 10" - 15" or lap length 16" - 26" or 3/4 length
27" - 30" or floor length
banquet tables: 10" - 15" is standard
3
once you have these dimensions - to determine the cloth size, add 2x the drop to each dimension of your table; round tables - table diameter + 2x the drop. square or rectangular tables - add 2x the drop to each dimension of your table.
examples:
round; the table is 60" in diameter, 30" high and you want a 15" cloth drop 60" + 15" + 15" = a 90" round tablecloth
round; the table is 30" in diameter, 30" high and you want the cloth floor length 30" + 30" + 30" = a 90" round tablecloth
square; the table is 48" x 48", 29" high and you want a 12" cloth drop 48" + 12" + 12" = a 72" square tablecloth
rectangular; the table is 36" in width, 96" (8') in length, 30" high and you want a 12" cloth drop 96" + 12" + 12" = 120" long by 36" + 12" + 12" = 60" wide or a 60" x 120" long tablecloth
overlays are square cloths generally used over round tables, but can be used on banquet or square tables as well; the table is round and 52" in diameter and you want a 10" drop 52" + 10" + 10" = a 72" square cloth
